Rohit Sharma, the captain of the Indian cricket team, has once again secured a position in the top 10 batters list of the ICC men’s Test player rankings. This achievement comes after his remarkable 10th century in Test matches. Meanwhile, Ravichandran Ashwin, following his exceptional performance of taking 12 wickets in the series opener against West Indies, has solidified his position as the number one bowler.

Rohit Sharma currently holds the highest ranking among Indian batters, having climbed three places to reach number 10 on the list with 751 rating points. This rise in rankings for Rohit Sharma comes after India’s dominant victory over West Indies in the opening Test of the two-match series in Roseau, Dominica, where they won by an innings and 141 runs.

Both Rohit Sharma and Ravichandran Ashwin’s contributions have been instrumental in India’s cricketing achievements. Their consistent performances have not only boosted the team’s confidence but have also garnered admiration from cricket enthusiasts worldwide.

Another notable performance in the match was delivered by Yashasvi Jaiswal, a 21-year-old debutant from India. Jaiswal impressed everyone with his outstanding knock of 171 runs off 387 deliveries, which earned him a place in the batters list for the first time. He enters the list at the 73rd position with 420 points. This remarkable innings by Jaiswal not only marked his debut away from home but also became the highest score by an Indian opener on debut away from home and the third-highest score for an Indian opener on debut.

Following Rohit Sharma in the rankings are his teammates Rishabh Pant, who slipped one place to 11th position with 750 points, and Virat Kohli, who remains in 14th place with 711 points.

In the West Indies’ camp, debutant Alick Athanaze showcased a commendable performance by scoring 47 runs from 99 balls in the first innings. This allowed him to make his entry into the list at joint 77th place with Alex Lees of England, both sharing 407 points.

The top nine positions in the batting list remain unchanged for this week, while Ashwin’s outstanding performance in the match has further solidified his position as the number one Test bowler. With 884 points, he enjoys a comfortable lead of 56 points over the second-ranked bowler, Pat Cummins, the captain of the Australian cricket team, who has 828 points.

Another noteworthy rise in the rankings is seen in Ravindra Jadeja’s position. He has climbed three places from 10th to seventh, with 779 points, thanks to his five-wicket haul in the match. Jadeja also maintains his number one ranking as an all-rounder in Test matches, holding 449 points and an 87-point lead over Ashwin, who currently occupies the second position with 362 points.

Meanwhile, in the T20I player rankings, the conclusion of Bangladesh’s successful two-match home series against Afghanistan has resulted in Rashid Khan maintaining his position at the top of the bowlers list. Bangladesh’s 2-0 victory in the series led to gains for Shakib Al Hasan, who rose eight places to joint 16th in the bowlers list. He shares this spot with Shaheen Shah Afridi of Pakistan, both accumulating 616 points. Additionally, Nasum Ahmed’s impressive performance caused him to jump 17 places to joint 33rd on the list, sharing the position with Alzarri Joseph from the West Indies, both accumulating 550 points.

In the batters list, interim captain Litton Das rose three places to share the 18th position with West Indies’ Brandon King, both accumulating 588 points. This rise in rankings for Litton Das comes as a result of his scores of 18 and 35 in the series against Afghanistan.
